By Pythagoras Theorem,
Height of Triangle = (1.7^2-1^2)^0.5 = (1.89)^0.5= 1.37 in
Area of one triangle = 1.374772708* 2*0.5= 1.374772708in^2
area of polygon = 5*1.374772708in^2=6.87in^2 = 6.9in^2
answer is b
