One of the parking lot lights at a hospital has a motion detector on it, and the equation (x+10)2+(y−8)2=16 describes the boundary within which motion can be sensed. What is the greatest distance, in feet, a person could be from the parking lot light and be detected?

The correct answer is 4ft

because the radius of that circle
(x+10)^2+(y−8)^2=4^2
is 4

Answer:

The greatest distance covered by the camera is 4 feet.

Explanation:

It has been given in the question that one of the parking lot lights at a hospital has a motion detector which covers a boundary described by an equation

(x + 10)²+(y - 8)² = 16 = 4²

Since this equation is in the form of (x - a)² + (y - b)² = r²

It's a standard equation of a circle having center (h, k) and r as the radius.

So 4 feet is the maximum distance which camera can cover.
