Answer:

The surface area of the monument = 56 m^2

Explanation:

A monument which is in the shape of square pyramid and the net is given.

The surface is nothing but the sum of areas of all the faces.

There are 4 congruent triangles on the sides and 1 square base.

Let's find the area of the base.

Area of the base = side *side

Here side = 4 m

Area of the base = 4*4 = 16 m^2

Now let's find the area of 1 triangle.

The base of the triangle is 4 and the height is 5.

Area of the triangle = 1/2*base * height

= 1/2*4*5

= 2*5

= 10 m^2

Area of the 1 triangle = 10m^2

We know the 4 triangles are congruent to each other.

Surface area = base area + 4(area of the triangle)

= 16 + 4(10)

= 16 + 40

The surface area of the monument = 56 m^2
