In a response of two to three sentences, explain how these lines contribute to Grendel's characterization as a monster.

"In the dusk of the dawning, as the day was just breaking,
Was Grendel's prowess revealed to the warriors:
Then, his meal-taking finished, a moan was uplifted,
Morning-cry mighty."

Through the setting, the reader is able to understand that Grendel becomes a monster in the night. His 'prowess' shows his abilities as a monster, the capacity and skill he gains. By moaning, he displays his monster characteristic, and, using the word 'mighty' for his animal cry, the characterization of his monster shows strength.
