f(x)=x^3 is a cubic function. In general, when you substitute (x+c) in for x, if c is positive, you shift the graph to the left c units. If c is negative, you shift the graph to the right.

So f(x+2) = (x+2)^3 is the cubic function shifted to the left 2 units.
