Te compromise of 1877 was the event that led to the end of Reconstruction era. It led to resolution of the disputed presidential elections and Rutherford B. Hayes became President.  He withdrew the troops from Louisiana and South Carolina, which led to issuing in the Jim Crow system and end of Reconstruction.
