Equation #1
y - 17 = 24
y = 24 - 17
y = 7
Equation #2
3 (2y - 4 ) = 12
6y - 12 = 12
y = ( 12 + 12) : 6
y = 24 : 6
y = 4
Verify :
3 (2•4 - 4) = 12
3 ( 8 - 4 ) = 12
24 - 12 = 12
12 = 12
