Distribute the 2
4x - 8 + x = 7
combine like terms
5x - 8 = 7
add 8 to both sides
5x = 15
divide both sides by 5
x =3

2(2*3-4) + 3 ?=? 7
2(6-4) + 3 ?=? 7
2(2) + 3 ?=? 7
7 = 7 CHECKS

5x−8=7
5x−8+8=7+8

5x=15
