Johann baked 24 cookies for a picnic with his friends. Of the 10 friends he invited, 7 friends were able to attend the picnic. If Johann gave each of his friends the same number of cookies and had 3 cookies left for himself, how many did each friend get? How can you check you answer

24 - 3 = 21 cookies given away.
For 7 friends that's 21/7 = 3 cookies each
Check by multiplying 3*7 = 21 cookies for friends. Adding his 3 cookies is 21+3=24 cookies, which is what he started with

24 cookies - 3 cookies = 21 cookies. 21/7=3. Each friend received 3 cookies.
