Given the graph below, which of the following statements is true?

A.The graph represents a one-to-one function because every x-value is paired with only one y-value.
B. The graph represents a one-to-one function because it is defined for all x-values.
C. The graph does not represent a one-to-one function because it does not pass through the origin.
D. The graph does not represent a one-to-one function because the y-values between 0 and 2 are paired with multiple x-values.

The answer is D because it fails the horizontal line test, it is a function but not a one to one function. Other guy showed more work than I ever could read his explanation and thank him. Also don't report me for this someone commented for a letter answer and i'm just giving it.

Answer: The answer is (D). The graph does not represent a one-to-one function because the y-values between 0 and 2 are paired with multiple x-values.

Step-by-step explanation: We are given a function and the figure represents its graph. We are to select the correct option from the given statements.

We can see in the graph that between the values 0 and 2 of y, for each value of y, there exists two different values of x. For example, at x = 1 and -2.5, y= 1.5.

So, the graph will not represent a one-to-one function.

Thus, the correct option is (D).
