A rectangle is 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. A similar rectangle is 12 inches long. What is the width of the second rectangle to the nearest inch?

The ratio between the length and the width of the first rectangle=
l/w=2/1

Apply this to the second rectangle which have the length of 12 inches pong, so we just need to take 12÷2=6 inches. As a result, the width of the second rectangle is 6 inches. Hope it help!
