Why do humans perceive faint light better in the periphery of the eye?? ?Receptors in the periphery are closer to the pupil. ?The fovea is closer to the retina's blind spot than peripheral receptors. ?More receptors in the periphery than in the fovea funnel input to each ganglion cell. ?Ganglion cells in the periphery transmit their information to a larger brain area.

The answer is the third one.  Retinal ganglion cells all in all transmit picture framing and non-picture shaping visual data from the retina as the activity potential to a few locales in the thalamus, hypothalamus, and mesencephalon, or midbrain.
