Jim's gas tank is 1/4 full or 2/8 full.
5/8-2/8=3/8

3/8 full contains 9 gallons of gas
1 full contains ? gallons of gas

1×9/3/8=9/3/8=9×8/3=24 gallons of gas. As a result, Jim's tank can hold 24 gallons of gas. Hope it help!
