Answer: The Associate's degree .

The "A.A. — Associate of Arts" — tends to be offered for subjects that are more academically focused; and/or, the A.S. — Associate of Science — tend to be focused on subjects that are more vocational/occupational/"skills-oriented" or "hands-on" subjects (yet requires academic general education units as well). There is also the "ADN" (Associate Degree in Nursing), which is a state-accredited and state-licensed problem that allows one to sit for the "NCLEX" exam to become an "R.N." (Registered Nurse).
