It takes Heidi 10 minutes to get to school going at a speed of 27 miles/hour. How long will it take her to get to school if she goes 40 miles/hour?

We have that 10 minutes are 0.16 hours. Then,


d = (0.16hour*27miles)/(hour) = 4.32miles.

Now, with 40 miles/hour we have


4.32miles = t*(40miles)/(hour)


t = (4.32miles)/(40miles/hour) = 0.108hour.

Then, it will take her 0.108 hour = 6.48 minutes to get to school.
