A roller coaster climbs 110 feet from ground level then drops 65 feet before climbing another 135 feet. How far does the coaster need to drop or climb to be back at ground level. A) Drop 70 feet B) Drop 180 feet C) Climb 70 feet D) Climb 180 feet

Ok so the first thing we want to do is find where the coaster is after the initial climb, drop, then climb. We can do a simple addition subtraction problem to find the height.

110 - 65 +135 = 45 +135 = 180

We know the coaster is 180 feet in the air so obviously it needs to drop 180 feet to get back to grounf level.

Answer B is correct.

110-65+135=180

Set up an equation:
180-x=0
x=180

The answer is B) drop 180 feet.
