I believe the answer would be A that you move the lever away from you to load the rifle (I know since I had such a rifle). This action places a shell into the firing chamber so that it is ready to fire so makes it convenient to re-load unlike where a shell must be placed in the chamber by hand each time such as is the case with many 0.22 rifles.
