What is the change in temperature from -45°F to - 71°F?

A. -116°F
B. 116°F
C. -26°F
D. 26°F

So, I did this both adding and subtracting, in subtraction I got -34, which is obviously wrong, and addiction is what's needed to be used, right? In addition, I got -116. Help? Also, it would be nice if it could be explained somewhat?

Answer: -26

Explanation:

So if you go from -45 to -71, you subtract -71 to -45.

-71 - (-45) = -26 or

-71 + 45= -26

It's C. -26. Since they're both negative you, you add: -71 + 45 = -26.
