c=3 times p
c=3p
c=24
24=3p
divide both sides by 3
8=p
2/3 of money=c+p
2/3 of money=24+8
2/3 of money=32
how much he had left
all-2/3=1/3
so
2/3 of money =32
divide both sides by 2
1/3 of money=16
he had $16 left
