Notice the format of this passage from William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet. NURSE: His name is Romeo, and a Montague; The only son of your great enemy. JULIET: My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me, That I must love a loathed enemy. What is this passage an example of?

hmmm well you can go with B because according to Juliet she loves Romeo instead of hating him for being the enemy son.

Answer: indirect characterization through the characters’ dialogue.

There are two ways in which an author can develop a character. Direct characterization refers to the author giving us specific details about a character. Indirect characterization, on the other hand, takes advantage of the character's dialogues, thoughts and feelings in order to show us what the character is like. In this case, the dialogue between the nurse and Juliet allows us to understand Juliet's character better.
