Find two consecutive odd numbers who's sum is 2 less then 6 times the first number?

x + (x + 2) = 6x - 2
2x + 2 = 6x - 2
subtract 6x from both sides
-4x + 2 = -2
subtract 2 from both sides
-4x = -4
divide by -4
x = 1
x + 2 = 3

6(1) -2 ?=? 1 + 3
6 - 2 ?=? 4
4 = 4 CHECKS
