It's between A and D. Because B is incorrect, topic sentences go at the beginning of paragraphs and C is wrong because a THESIS statement is what you want to say about the overall topic. I think the answer is D, because supporting sentences are meant to support the paragraph's topic sentence, and the topic sentences are to relate to the thesis (since, again, the thesis is what you want to say about the overall topic).

It should be D. Thesis sentences are giving you an overview of how your essay is going to unfold. Then with each point your backing up a topic sentence which is that point; with examples and explanations to explain said point.
