The right option is; responding to the environment
Responding to the environment is the characteristic of life that best describes the process of homeostasis.
Homeostasis is the ability of a body or living organism to adjust its internal environment in order to maintain a stable equilibrium regardless of the external changing conditions. Homeostasis takes place in humans when the body adjusts body temperature inorder to maintain a constant internal temperature such as when an individual shivers to produce heat in a cold environment.
