Helena had a balance of $14.48 left on a gift card. She bought a muffin each for her, and five of her friends. The cost of each muffin was $1.02.

Helena says she has about $8.50 left on her gift card. Is her statement reasonable?

To find out how much is on her gift card we take off the muffins from the 14.48 on her gift card.

5 * 1.02 = 5.10 she spent on the gift card

14.48 - 5.10 = 9.38 left on her gift card

8.50 is less than 9.38, but I don't think it is unreasonable since she knows she would have that amount on her gift card. Though I would say 9 dollars would be more reasonable.

She actually has 8.36, so I think it's not reasonable to say 8.50, much closer to 8....my opinion
