As we know Harlem Renaissance was a movement in the 1920's and 1930's during which there was an explosion of African-American art and literature. During this time slavery and racial segregation were still being witnessed. poems by Countee Cullen,Langston Hughes and others alike, helped drive the message home that these vices need to be abolished.
poems such as Heritage, the heart of a woman and America, stressed on the point that, their heritage (Africa) was important to them but, so is America, Which was now their homeland.
