Answer: 84

Explanation:

Given : Matthew made a fruit salad, in which the ratio of blueberries to red grapes is 8:6.

It can be written as
(8)/(6) (1)

Matthew used 36 red grapes and the rest were blueberries.

Let x be the number of blueberries.

Then, the ratio of blueberries to red grapes =
(x)/(36) (2)

Now, from (1) and (2) , we have

(8)/(6)=(x)/(36)\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=(36*8)/(6)\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=48

i.e. Number of blueberries =48

Thus, the number of pieces of fruit are in Matthew’s fruit salad =48+36=84

Hence, number of pieces of fruit are in Matthew’s fruit salad=84
