The Salt March was a protest which wasn't peaceful, the protesters disobeyed the law on purpose in order to get their voice heard. The reason behind that is that they resented British rule in India, they were maltreated and their rights were violated. The leader, which was Mohandas Gandhi got arrested and faced serious trouble.
Have a nice day! :)
