If you make a tree diagram and then list all of the possible outcomes for flipping a coin and rolling a 6-sided die, how many possible outcomes are there?

There is 12 possible outcomes. There is 2 sides to a coin, and 6 sides to a dice. So for heads there can be 1,2,3,4,5, or 6. For tails it can be 1,2,3,4,5, or 6. So for each side of the coin there is 6 outcomes. 6+6=12. Hope this helps.

Answer:

Explanation:

Flip a coin

Outcomes are 2 head or tail

Toss a die

Outcomes are 6, numbers 1 to 6

Assume that both coin and die are unbiased

Then each outcome is equally likely

i.e. P(H)=P(T) = 1/2

and P(N) = 1/6 for N = 1 to 6

Total possible outcomes would be

H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6

T1, T2,T3,T4,T5,T6
