Well the Cold War and the Vietnam war were close to simultaneous.
I personally would say yes it did remain communist, but the communism shortly fell after the Vietnamese military victory over the country.

False, because they turned communist in 1975. They turned communist because they were invaded and after they turned communist they renamed the capital to H/o Chi Mihn
