You are told that the average rate of change of a particular function is always negative. What can you conclude about the graph of that function and why?

Answer:

If a function is increasing, the average rate of change between any 2 points must be positive.

If it's always negative, no matter what interval we are looking at, we can conclude that the graph is always sloped downward, or decreasing, from left to right.
