Question

I'm the book "The Giver" why did The giver ask Jonas for forgiveness and I'm not looking for the answer "he gave him pain" like why did he want forgiveness and there has to be a reason sorry if this is confusing

He wanted forgiveness because he was the one keeping all the feelings and everything from him and his town. So when Jonas leaves everyone will have a better experience
