You will need to use the Pythagorean Theorem, actually a derivative of it sometimes called the "distance formula" to find the length of the segments between two points. Mathematically the distance is:
d^2=(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2
d=√(dx)^2+(dy)^2)
