The unemployment rate is a ratio calculated by dividing the total amount of people who do not have a job (but are actively looking for one) between the total (working-age) population.

In Oakville, if the division detailed above is performed: (10,000/100,000)*100= 0.1*100= 10%, the result obtained shows that in this country the 10% of the population is unemployed.
