Make 3/4 into a common denominator from 1/8. The starting cheese then turns into 15 6/8 whilst the ending cheese is 5 2/8. Take 6 out from 6/8 to make it 14 8/8. She has made 6 cheese sandwiches by then. Now in every pound of cheese there are 8 sandwiches made so 14 x 8 + 6 = 118 sandwiches made with the 15 3/4 pounds of cheese. Now do 5 x 8 + 2 (extra cheese sandwiches) and then subtract from 118. 5 x 8 + 2 = 42, 118 - 42 = 76.

Therefore the number of cheese sandwiches made during the week were 76

PS. THIS A HELL OF A LOT EASIER ON PAPER
