The following are the given probabilities:
the applicant's chance of passing = P (pass the exam) = 3/4
the applicant's chance of being appointed with pass = P (being appointed | passed exam)
Solution:
We are looking for the probability of a job applicant receiving the job = P (pass the exam) * P( being appointed | passed the exam)
= 3/4 * 3/8
= 9/32 or 0.2813
