4x + 5 = 29
Subtract 5 on both sides
4x = 24
Divide by 4
X = 6
Now the second one:
2(x-4) = 40
Distribute the 2 into the parenthesis
2x - 8 = 40
Add 8 on both sides
2x = 48
Divide by 2
X = 24
