Was apartheid a product of a democratic system of government? explain.

By definition, an apartheid is defined as the act of segregating races in which it most especially takes place in the African countries starting the second half of the 20th century. Based on my opinion, the policy does not employ the principles of democracy because the people were not given the right to fair treatment and equality regardless of race and culture.
