Food Chains: Food chain is a model that shows flow of energy and nutrients from one organism to another organism in an ecosystem. ... A food also shows the relation between organisms as who they are related with each other by the food they eat. Plants and animals requires some type of food for survival.

Here's the simplest and most easy difference to notice:

A food web is made of many smaller food chains.

A food chain is only one set of prey to predators, while a web is a collection with relationships between many sets.
