In the early United States, how was law in Massachusetts set up differently than in most other states?

Massachusetts law required that the government be directly elected by the people. Massachusetts have distributed the power evenly among the legislature, the constitution was not created by the legislature but through a special convention of delegates committed for the purpose only and will be approved by the vote of the citizens.
