In “No Gumption,” how does Russell show he may have some gumption after all?

He admits he would like to be president.

He sells some magazines.

He buys his sister Doris an apple.

He decides he wants to be a writer.

The answers would be "He sells some magazines" or "He decides he wants to be a writer.", since Gumption means to be resourceful or have spirited initiative.

The answer is: He decides he wants to be a writer.

The main objective of Russel Baker in “no Gumption” is to show the people that they do not need to have gumption to succeed, this mean that they do not have to fight for what everyone wants, however, this encourage you to find the job that you lob, so at the end you gumption for that.
