|AB|=√((x_B-x_A)^2+(y_B-y_A)^2)Formula

A=(x_A,y_A) = (-2,8) \\\\ B=(x_B,y_B)=(6,-2)

|AB|=√((6+2)^2+(-2-8)^2)=\\\\=√(8^2+(-10)^2)=\\\\ =√(164)\approx12.8

If you make a right triangle from one coordinate to the other your side lengths would be 8 and 10
using the pythagorean theorem you add 64 and 100 then find its square root
Your answer is 12.8
