Let’s say that you have a square garden in your backyard. One side of the garden has a length of + 5. Can you give an expression that we could use to represent the area of the garden?

For a square garden where all sides are equal lengths, you would use the expression x^2 to find the area ( aka Length times Width where both are the same number) where x = 5.

5^2

= 25
