student saw a science fiction movie in which a spaceship was zooming through space. The sound of the engine was loud. However, he knew that this was not possible because sound cannot travel through space. What is the best explanation of why sound cannot travel through space?

Space is in a vacuum. Sound cannot travel without air and space doesnt have air. Thats the best explanation.

Sound waves move through molecules. When there are no molecules in a certain space, sound cannot travel - whether in a vacuum or in space.
