The expression mc031-1.jpggives the thickness in millimeters (mm) of the insulation needed for a high voltage cable. mc031-2.jpg is the number of kilovolts carried by the cable. What thickness of insulation material is needed for 7 kilovolt cable?

Basically your equation looks like this T=.01E + .003E^2 T = thickness and E = kilovolts carred by the cable If you want T, and we know the cable carries 1 kilovolt, then all we do if plug in our 1 for E so... T = .01(1) + .003(1)^2
