I have two questions.

one: Point M is the midpoint of segment AB. If AM = 2x + 5 and MB = 5x – 22, find the value of x.

two: Point M is the midpoint of segment QR. If QM = 2x + 5 and MR = 5x – 1, find the length of QR.

I have two questions. one: Point M is the midpoint of segment AB. If AM = 2x + 5 and-example-1

1. Since M is the midpoint, then AM = MB.
2x + 5 = 5x - 22
3x = 27
x = 9.

2. Since M is the midpoint, then QM = MR.
2x + 5 = 5x - 1
3x = 6
x = 2
QR = QM + MR
QR = 2x + 5 + 5x - 1
QR = 7(2) + 4
QR = 18 units
