Let

z-----> the scale factor

x-----> the corresponding side of Figure 2

y-----> the corresponding side of Figure 1

so


z=(x)/(y)

we have


x=8\ units


y=24\ units

substitute


z=(8)/(24)

simplify


z=(1)/(3)
