3x^2 + 2x + 7 = 0

using the quadratis formula

x = [- 2 +/- sqrt(2^2 - 4*3*7)] / 6

Hint the numbers in parentheses after the square root work out to negative 80)

The quadratic formula is -b +/- the square root of b squared - 4(ac) all over 2a.
-2 +/- the square root of 4- 4(3*7) all over 2*3.
-2 +/- the square root of -80
Since the square root of 80 is irrational, the equation has no solution
