Given:

New Value : 52%

Reference Value : 37%

a.) Absolute Change. For us to be able to determine the absolute change, the following formula will be used:

\text{ Absolute Change = New Value - Reference Value}

We get,

\text{ Absolute Change = 52\% - 37\% = 15\%}

Therefore, the politician's support has increased by 15 percentage points.

b.) Relative Change. For us to be able to determine the relative change, the following formula will be used:

\text{ Relative Change = }\frac{\text{ Absolute Change}}{\text{ Reference Value}}\text{ x 100}

We get,

\text{ Relative Change = }\frac{\text{ 15\%}}{\text{ 37\%}}\text{ x 100}
\text{ = }0.40540540540540540540540540540541\text{ x 100}
=40.540540540540540540540540540541\text{\%}
\text{ Relative Change = 40.5\%}

Therefore, the politician's support has increased by 40.5%.
