(2/9)=-(2/3)+y
Add (2/3) on both sides
(2/9)+(2/3) = -(2/3)+(2/3)+y
(2/9)+(2/3) = y
Now you multiply (2/3) by (3/3) to have the same denominator.
(2/9)+[(2/3)*(3/3)] = y
(2/9)+(6/9) = y
Add the fractions now to solve for y
8/9=y

Hope I didn't mess up for your sake

1) 2/9=-2/3+y
2/9=-6/9+y
Add 6/9 to both side to get:
2/9+6/9=y
y=8/9 is your final answer. Hope it help!
