1/8=4^(6x+2) take the natural log of both sides
ln(1/8)=(6x+2)ln4 divide both sides by ln4
ln(1/8)/ln4=6x+2 subtract 2 from both sides
[ln(1/8)/ln4]-2=6x divide both sides by 6
x=([ln(1/8)/ln4]-2)/6
x=-3.5/6
x=-7/12
